Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt

Hello my friends!! Hope you are all enjoying the first week of spring!! With Easter coming up this weekend I’m trying to get all ready for the all-important Easter egg hunt! Our kids are totally spoiled – they do an Easter egg hunt at home, one outside with all the neighbours on the stoop, another one with each set of grandparents and yet another one at church!

This year for a something a little different I thought I’d get my kids to work a little harder to find their Easter rewards – a scavenger hunt! After a quick look around the idea galleries on Pinterest, I managed to find a bunch of clues that will work for our house. Basically, when the girls get up in the morning, where normally there is a couch full of chocolate and treats from the Easter bunny, this year there will be a clue… leading to another clue… and another!

I found many of the clues for the scavenger hunt on these two sites (Storypiece.net and Melissa and Doug) and then just changed some around to fit with our home. It would be easy to do the same for your house!! Once I made my list of clues, and the corresponding order of answers, I printed them off, cut into strips and placed inside the eggs. Then I numbered the eggs 1-10 so I’d be able to have them ready in advance.

At each clue spot, the girls will find a little pile of chocolate eggs and a plastic egg that will contain the next clue. The final clue will have the destination of their Easter treats!! At our house the Easter bunny tries not to leave too much chocolate because all of the grandparents and aunts and uncles always buy chocolate – our bunny this year will be leaving each of the girls a big box of sidewalk chalk, a new skipping rope, a new book and a chocolate treat.

I am going to try to attach the clues that we used for our hunt at the bottom of this post, so you can print them off for your own Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt! In the meantime, I've taken a screen shot of the clues below! Enjoy, and happy Easter everyone!!

All Ready for Spring - Our Easter Mantle

Just a quickie little post to show off a project that the girls and I put together this week. When I got home from work, my little munchkins bombarded me with requests to get out our Easter stuff. I’m pretty sure the request came because they were sick of looking at the Valentine’s mantle my lazy self had yet to take down.

I took out the Easter decorations from their perch inside the bean’s closet and got to work dismantling Valentine’s Day in the middle of March. I let the girls loose on my scrapbook paper collection to pick some spring coloured paper and made a quick, easy bunting by cutting the paper and folding the top edge over and securing it with tape. This allowed me to run twine through the back to hang the happy little sign from the mantle.

I freehand cut out the letters and used my awesome Martha Stewart Circle Cutter to cut out the plain white circles. I made the mistake of using liquid glue instead of the double sided craft tape to affix the pieces to each other, so it dried a little crinkly, but overall I think it turned out really cute!

I pulled together my favourite Easter baskets (the yellow one on the far left my mom made for me when I was a kid) and filled some glass containers with brightly coloured plastic eggs. Miss A added some homemade artwork, Miss E put her two favourite stuffed bunnies to add to the collection and I put in some blue and green vases for color.

Thanks for hopping by my little corner of the internet today. I hope you enjoyed out Easter mantle! Now to plan ahead for the next one – SUMMER!

Getting Ready for the Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter Weekend Everyone!
I have said it before: we live on the happiest street on Earth. It's great - we sit out all summer long "stooping" with the neighbours. We sit on our lawn chairs, watch the kids ride their bikes and cover the roadway in our complex with an insane amount of sidewalk chalk.
We have board game nights, sitting outside while the baby monitors on the front steps listen in case any of the kids makes a peep. We have block parties, we hula hoop.

And at this time of the year? We have an Easter egg hunt of course!

On Sunday morning all of the little kids go outside and see what the mommy bunnies have set out for them. They have a blast, running around in pyjamas and parkas (weather dependant)with their little baskets collecting as many plastic eggs filled with goodies as they can get their grubby little hands on.

Today, we filled up the little plastic eggs with gummies, foil covered chocolate eggs and candy bracelets.

I also wanted to make some more little carrots. I originally made fishy cracker carrots for Eila Bean's birthday party. I wanted to make some more for the kids on the street, except I thought I'd fill them with cheetos this time!

There you go, a couple of easy and super cute Easter egg hunt ideas... now to wait for the Easter bunny....
