Back to School!!

Back. To. School. I can't believe summer vacation is over and we are back to school, dance, swimming lessons and everything else that comes with September.

Another thing I can't believe? That my firstborn ginger baby, Miss A, is all grown up and starting grade two! She has grown so much this summer and I couldn't be prouder of my seven year old! Here she is all dressed up and ready for her first day of school. School only lasted an hour today (? no idea why!!) but we got all dolled up for the first day nonetheless!

Miss E starts preschool tomorrow! One more year and my baby girl will be in kindergarten. This year she gets to spend learning and playing and making a million memories with the most amazing preschool teacher, Miss Leona. She was Miss A's preschool teacher and Miss E can't wait for school to start tomorrow.

I thought I would have a whole bunch of organizing posts and how to be ready for back to school posts, but instead we played and partied right to the very very end of summer vacation. I think we'll have to work on some fall projects to share with you all.

Hope you all had a great first day of school!! More later this week,

Back to School - Check!

YAY! We all know how much I love to tick things off on my to do lists!
Label – One night last week I spent the evening with my labels and the school supplies and watched one of my fave movies ever – OFFICE SPACE! It made the time fly by while I labelled every pencil, marker, crayon, pair of scissors, back pack and shoe!
Shoes - All the shoes had the price tags and connector cables removed, shoe labels added, and were placed neatly by the front door, all ready for school on Tuesday.
Backpacks - The backpacks were labelled and filled with the appropriate school supplies for each little one.
Lunches - Miss E only needs snacks for her stint at preschool, and she’ll eat anything and everything. Miss A however is a different story - during dinner this week, we brainstormed ideas for her school lunches. We didn’t come up with many options, but we have a few go-to’s – bagel with cream cheese, mac n cheese in a thermos, tortilla filled with cheese, plus the usual snacks: yogurt tubes, Babybel cheese wheels, cheese strings, crackers. We’ll have to see how it goes!
Haircuts - Miss E didn’t need a haircut – her crazy curls are perfectly crazy all on their own! Miss A however needed her hair cut, so she got new bangs a trim at the back – and she loved it!
School Clothes - After clearing out the summer clothes that they have worn or grown out of from the drawers, and added the newly acquired birthday clothes, the girls are all ready for the first day of school. I love all of the pick-the-clothes-for-the-week organizing ideas on blogs or Pinterest, but the weather in my neck of the woods is unpredictable, so we usually just wake up and decide what to wear based on what Mother Nature is giving us that day!

YAY! Everything was checked off and ready for the first day of school! I even made it through the first day without tears!!

Getting Ready for Back to School

As you may know, I am the queen of list making. Sometimes I make lists of the lists that I have so I don’t forget to tick things off the list!
The most gratifying thing for me is using my trusty purple ball point pen to cross off the last item on one of my lists!
Since school starts next week – EEK! This week’s list will be filled with things to be done to finish preparing the kiddos to march off to Grade 1 and Preschool.
On the list this week:
LABEL!! I made some cute little labels for Miss A’s school supplies, at some point this week I need to actually affix them to said school supplies.
SHOES!! I purchased the girls their new school shoes, runners, and inside the classroom shoes, I need to get them organized, tags off, put neatly by the door (and move the 20 pairs of flip flops to the garage to make room!).
BACKPACKS!! Miss A got a new backpack this summer and it is super cute! Once I label the school supplies, add the shoes and the school supplies, she’ll be ready to go! Miss E’s backpack from last year is still in great shape, so she’ll get another year out of that one.
LUNCHES!! I ordered these fancy Rubbermaid Lunch Blox for Miss A’s lunches... now to figure out a list of food’s to put in these containers. At one point last year she was asking me to send her to school with bread and butter sandwiches with cheese on the side. Yup... that’s my kid. It’s crazy.
HAIRCUTS!! Miss E has some crazy curls, so I don’t know if I need to get her lovely locks cut, but Miss A has bangs and they are looking a little crazy, there is definitely a trip to the hair dresser in her future this week!
SCHOOL CLOTHES!! We are SO lucky to have a wonderful family and friends who completely spoiled Miss A with new clothes for her birthday! I don’t have to purchase one item of new school clothes for Miss A. Last week I sorted through her drawers and took out anything that she’s grown out of through the summer – and ended up with two big bags of clothes – some to hold onto for Miss E and some for the donate bin!
Looks like the week ahead will be busy busy busy! Good thing we have the menu all planned out!
