Super Amazing, Totally Irresistible Chocolate Trifle

Last week at work we had a potluck luncheon for an employee leaving our department (we'll sure miss her!).  I wanted to bring something sweet and delicious that wasn't cupcakes.  I have been making this chocolate trifle recipe for years!  The first time I had it was at a family dinner, probably ten years ago.  It was made by my cousin Andrea, and it was A-MAZing.

You could easily double or triple this recipe to make it for a big group of people, but the recipe as it is made a big bowl with enough to feed most of my department at work (although we had it for breakfast, it didn't make it to the luncheon!).

Super Amazing, Totally Irresistible Chocolate Trifle

1 Box of chocolate cake or brownies, made according to package directions
2 packages of chocolate pudding, made according to package directions
1 tub of light cool whip
1/4 pkg Skor Bits (found in the chocolate chip section at the grocery store)

And that is all you need! Seriously, it's super easy!

Bake your cake mix or brownie mix according to the package directions.  Or buy a package of two-bite brownies.  Break the cake/brownies up into 1" chunks.

Make the chocolate pudding according to the package directions.

Let the cool whip thaw on the counter for a few minutes before you assemble the trifle.

In a large glass bowl (so it looks pretty, of course!) layer half of the cake, then half of the pudding, half the cool whip and half the skor bits.  Repeat the layers again.  If you want to be really fancy you could put some chocolate curls on the top, but it's pretty amazing just as it is!  Enjoy!

Bon Appetit!

  1. It looks so pretty all layered in the bowl! And I know it is SUPER delicious! I don't think I've ever had Skor bits before. Is it a toffee thing?!? Thanks for stopping by my blog & commenting today:)
